RE: Acrodont
Acrodont is a formation of the teeth whereby the teeth are consolidated with the summit of the alveolar ridge of the jaw without sockets. The term also refers to species of reptiles that have such a formation. This formation is common in the order Squamata, with the only other teeth formation in this order being pleurodont. Acrodontal tooth attachment can also be seen in many teleosts and Sphenodons.

RE: arthur compton
Arthur Compton was an American physicist who won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1927 for his discovery of the Compton Effect. His work significantly contributed to the development of quantum mechanics and confirmed the dual nature of electromagnetic radiation as both particles and waves. The Compton Effect demonstrated the particle nature of light and resulted in a shift in wavelength after photons collided with electrons. He also contributed to the field of cosmic radiation which later led to the development of nuclear physics. During World War II, he was a key figure in the Manhattan Project that developed the atomic bomb.

RE: massif
In geology, a massif is a section of a planets crust that is demarcated by faults or flexures. In the movement of the crust, a massif tends to retain its internal structure while being displaced as a whole. The term is also used to refer to a group of mountains formed by such a structure.
In mountaineering and climbing literature, a massif is frequently used to denote the main mass of an individual mountain. The massif is a smaller structural unit of the crust than a tectonic plate and is considered the fourth largest driving force in geomorphology.
The word is taken from French, where it is used to refer to a large mountain mass or compact group of connected mountains forming an independent portion of a range. One of the most notable European examples of a massif is the Massif Central of the Auvergne region of France.
The Face on Mars is an example of an extraterrestrial massif.
Massifs may also form underwater such as with the Atlantis Massif. -

RE: armeria maritima
Armeria maritima is the botanical name for a species of flowering plant.
It is a popular garden flower, known by several common names, including thrift, sea thrift, and sea pink. The plant has been distributed worldwide as a garden and cut flower. It does well in gardens designed as xeriscapes or rock gardens.
It is a compact perennial which grows in low clumps and sends up long stems from which globes of bright pink flowers blossom. In some cases purple, white or red flowers also occur.
The plant can be found in the wild in coastal areas across the Northern Hemisphere, especially in Europe, but also occurs in parts of South America. It is a common sight in British marshes. It can grow in dry, sandy, saline conditions such as those at beaches and salt marshes.
Armeria maritima has a great copper-tolerance, and is able to grow in soils with copper concentrations of up to 6400 mg/kg. One mechanism proposed is that not much copper is transported up the shoot of the plant, and is excreted from decaying leaves. Some of the physiology and metabolism of this species has been described, of particular note is how the metabolism of this species is altered with elevated atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations. -

RE: chenille cord
Chenille cord is a type of fabric yarn made from soft, textured fibers which are typically used for decorative purposes, such as for creating rugs, pillows, and other home decor items. The texture of chenille cord is unique due to the use of short lengths of yarn that are placed between two cores yarns, resulting in a fuzzy surface reminiscent of a caterpillar - which is what chenille means in French. The cord, hence, is thick, soft, and plush, making it popular for use in crafts due to its cozy and luxurious look and feel.
