Commonly found in college students’ vocabulary, the act of regaining strength and motivation to continue consuming alcohol and attending parties. One may want to “rally” after consuming alcohol for a number of hours prior to a party, yet when the time of the party arrives he/she is too tired or drained to persist. The act of “rallying” would then take place to ensure attendance at the party.

Rally in Table Tennis. The time during which the ball is in play. The two players will continue to alternate hits until a point is scored. There is no time limit on how long a rally can last, but as soon as the ball goes out of play or hits the net, the rally comes to an end.

Rally in Rackets. The act of hitting the ball back and forth once the ball has been put into play. A rally is won when an opposing player fails to serve or return the ball. A rally won when by hand in is worth one point. A rally won by hand out makes that player hand in.
