Mesentery

The membranes, or one of the membranes (consisting of a fold ofthe peritoneum and inclosed tissues), which connect the intestinesand their appendages with the dorsal wall of the abdominal cavity.The mesentery proper is connected with the jejunum and ilium, theother mesenteries being called mesoc, mesocolon, mesorectum, etc.

A double layer of peritoneum (a smooth membrane that covers most internal organs) that connects many organs contained in the abdomen. Its primary function is to separate the abdominal organs from friction and merging together, but at the same time keep them connected. It also helps in mobility, as in the passage of food.

A fold of the peritoneum which attaches the stomach, small intestine, pancreas, spleen, and other organs to the posterior wall of the abdomen.
