The best instrument in the world. People like to make fun of it for the whole American pie thing and how high it is, but theyre really just in awe of its supreme glory! You know that saying, about jealous people? Yeah.

Anyway flutes are generally made out of metal (silver, nickel, gold, platinum, alloys, etc) although Baroque flutes are often made out of wood. Flutes can play lower than most people expect.

    Did I mention its prettyful?

One of the best instruments to ever be played. The people that hate it either listened to some half-assed idiots attempt at music or are jealous because they know theyll never be cool enough to play it. Can be played solo, in a band or orchestra, small ensemble, or even a rock band such as Jethro Tull. It is a dificult instument that requires many hours of practice but its all worth it cause when youre good, youre damn good.

Females AND males can play it. And yes, straight males. Some of the best floutists are STRAIGHT males.

So stop hatin on us, cause youre just jealous. At least were not obnoxious like damn trumpeteers.

the highest instrument in the band excluding the piccollo and the section that requires the least amount of instruction or watching ovr from the band director (this includes for learning visual drills when marching) so basically the only thing that keeps our band directors from commiting suicide.
contrary to popular belief flutes are not airheads also generally the most well behaved and mature section

For this definition, we will focus on a [transverse] flute.
Transverse flutes are medium-long, thin, and hollow. Most modern flutes are made of silver or other metals. They are comprised of 3 parts: A headjoint, a midjoint, and a footjoint. The headjoint holds the mouthpiece. The midjoint has nearly all the keys. The footjoint contains the rest of the keys. At first glance, the keys on a flute may seem overwhelming and confusing, but after a year or two of practice, you will understand them. A special extra joint can also be purchased to aid a flute in playing lower notes.
Flutes are in concert [pitch], meaning that when playing a band, you do not need to [transpose].
Flutes are the only woodwind with sound produced by the vibration of air, as opposed to a [reed]. Because of this, experienced or moderately-experience flautists can play very beautiful tones. However, inexperienced flutists can end up sounding squeaky or harsh.
As other definitions say flutes can make excellent weapons, although I prefer the long, thin, blunt object approach. The many holes from the keys do not lend the flute well to a blowgun.
If you play flute, you are very cool!

This is a universal term used in [Baltimore]. This could mean scared, pussy, dumb, stupid, anything you can put in front of the term “ass bitch”. [A flute] is pretty much all of those insults combined and means you’re just an overall [Bitch ass nigga].
