Speed skating in Speed Skating. Speed skating is an invigorating sport to watch and participate in. Two competitors race against each other in a counterclockwise direction around an ice track, the winner being the competitor who achieves the fastest time around the track. Skaters compete in short-track and long-track events, racing in either packs of four to six or against one other. Points are awarded in relation to the skaters time in each event. The overall winner is the skater with the lowest number of points.
