In Jazz music, for one player to interrupt the beginning of another players improvised solo by commencing their own improvised solo. variations include the standing craunch where in a big band, the [saxophone player] stands up to take a solo, and is left looking foolish as one of [the brass section] standing behind him has commenced a solo. also, the flying craunch where a solo that has begun tastefully, with only a few [sparse] notes is interrupted by another play who plays high and/or loud and/or fast.
