Dutch [aircraft] manufacturer that pioneered civil [aviation] untill the metal Douglas DC-2 outdated its classic designs involving steel tubes covered in cloth.
By building the DC-3 under licence Fokker gained experience in manufacturing metal aircraft, which was used for the DC-3s replacement the Fokker F-27 Friendship.
This was also the first aircraft using metal glue on a large scale.
The last series of aircraft it produced were the Fokker 50, 70 and 100 before they went [bankrupt] in 1996
