By building the DC-3 <a href="/topic/256942/under-licence">under licence</a> Fokker gained experience in manufacturing metal aircraft, which was used for the DC-3s replacement the Fokker F-27 Friendship.<br />
This was also the first aircraft using metal glue on a large scale.<br />
The last series of aircraft it produced were the Fokker 50, 70 and 100 before they went [bankrupt] in 1996</p>
