A liquid crystal display (LCD) is a type of electronic display that uses the light modulating properties of liquid crystals to produce images. They do not emit light directly, instead, they use a backlight or reflector to produce images in color or monochrome. These displays have uses in a wide range of applications, including computer monitors, television, instrument panels, aircraft cockpit displays, and many more. LCDs are also common on portable electronic devices such as digital cameras, watches, calculators, and mobile phones.
