A striped racer, also known as the California whipsnake, is a species of non-venomous snake native to the coast and foothills of California. It is a long, slender, and fast-moving snake, identified by its distinctive stripes running down the length of its body. They primarily feed on lizards and small rodents. The scientific name for this species is Masticophis lateralis.

The Choctawhatchee High School band program has existed since 1952 and is a proud school tradition. The Choctawhatchee Band Program is nationally recognized as one of the finest and most comprehensive high school band programs in the nation. The Choctawhatchee High School band includes the Style Marchers, [Symphonic Band], Concert Band, Jazz Band, Winter Percussion and [Winter Guard].
Choctawhatchee bands consistently earn Superior ratings at the district and state levels, including multiple awards of the Otto J. Kraushaar Award for straight Superior ratings at all Florida marching and concert assessments throughout a single year. The Style Marchers are the Florida Marching Band Coalition Champions 5A Champions for 2004-2005, 2005-2006, 2007-2008, and were runners-up in 2006-2007. The Winter [Percussion ensemble] placed 4th in the [WGI] Scholastic World division in 2007 and 2008. The World Guard has been a finalist for many years in the WGI Scholastic World division.
