Mapache
-
[Mapache] is the Spanish term for racoon. The word [mapache] comes from [the Aztec] word for thief or stealing (mapachoa). Sometimes it is used to address someone who is not trustworthy.
In northern Mexico, mostly in [Hermosillo] and Chihuahua, it is also used as a derogatory term for black people. This is very racist... dont do it. The rest of Mexico and Latin America never uses the term that way.
