A striped racer, also known as the California whipsnake, is a species of non-venomous snake native to the coast and foothills of California. It is a long, slender, and fast-moving snake, identified by its distinctive stripes running down the length of its body. They primarily feed on lizards and small rodents. The scientific name for this species is Masticophis lateralis.

The third acid,ethylene lactic acid, accompanies sarcolactic acid in the juice offlesh, and is optically inactive.-- Lactic ferment, an organized ferment (Bacterium lacticum orlactis), which produces lactic fermentation, decomposing the sugar ofmilk into carbonic and lactic acids, the latter, of which renders themilk sour, and precipitates the casein, thus giving rise to the so-called spontaneous coagulation of milk.-- Lactic fermentation.
