Schopenhauer and Fichte are typical exponents of thetwo types of metaphysical voluntarism, Schopenhauer teaching that theevolution of the universe is the activity of a blind and irrationalwill, Fichte holding that the intelligent activity of the ego is thefundamental fact of reality.
