Literally spanish for Big [Eared] this is actually A slang term referring to hispanics from [San Antonio]. This term is currently in use [in State] and Federal prisons currently in Texas.
The word origin is unknown but is believed to have been originally derisive.
It is also believed that this may be slang for a person that is stubborn or childish. This is due to the habit of grandparents to pull on a childs ear directing him [tot he] task that should have been accomplished.
The [Orejones] are a prison gang originating from a group of San Antonio prisoners, growing in strength and popularity in State and Federal Prisons. This gang first formed as a form of self-protection from other organized groups. Some have said their name originates from St Anthony de [Padua], the patron saint and namesake of the City of San Antonio, who was supposed to have large ears.
