Hyperbole is a figure of speech in which something that normally would not be considered is exaggerated or made to sound more extreme than it really is. In other words, hyperbole refers to an exaggeration that is meant for humor, irony or to shock. Hyperboles are often used in storytelling to create a sense of tension or surprise, and they are also used in political speeches to create a sense of urgency or importance.
