Serving in Table Tennis. The ball is placed in the open palm of the free hand. The ball must be stationary, above the level of the playing surface and behind the serving end line. The server will then throw the ball up into the air without spinning it. It must travel at least 6in. The server can then strike the ball on its descent, but the paddle must stay behind the servers end line. The ball must touch the servers court first, pass over the net and then touch the receivers court. The receiver will hit the ball to begin a rally.
