A splanchnic nerve is a type of visceral nerve that carries signals from the bodys internal organs to the brain. These nerves primarily function in the involuntary control of bodily processes such as heart rate, digestion, and blood flow. They are part of the autonomic nervous system which regulates the functions of the internal organs without conscious awareness.
