Rear Echelon Mother Fucker. One who has no frontline or combat experience, and therefore makes huge errors at expense of human life.

The REMFs decisions make sense only if you think of human beings as statistics. This is the main problem with REMFs- they think of people as numbers.

a term of derision used by front line soldiers to describe those in cushy jobs in the rear. It is short for Rear Echelon Mother Fucker and is familiar to most troopers who have been involved in any conflict.

An acronym popularized by [Tom Clancy] and particularly his character [John Clark], it stands for rear echelon motherfucker. A top officer in the military or a civilian with great influence over the service, it is a person who calls the shots from an armchair with little care about the kids whom their decisions will be effecting or the parents who will be getting bodybags for Christmas.

A Rear Echelon Motherfucker REMF is someone who has a relatively safe job and good living conditions in a war zone who is hated (because of envy) by frontline combat soldiers who have neither, and wished they did.
There are two basic types of REMFs: Pencil pushing administrators, and combat support personnel. It is a myth that REMFs risk the lives of those in combat on the frontlines, in fact the opposite is true. Combat support REMFs keep the grunts alive by supplying beans, bullets and blood.

Military acronym for Rear Entry Mother Fucker. Used to describe any who sits behind a desk an only propose in life is to ruin peoples lives because they do not know any better or lack of common sence. Most popular examples are Quartermasters, Intelligences Officers, any Officer in an executive or non-combat position and those who work in the Pentagon on up.
It also describes the way their office is set up. Where you have to walk around the desk to enter from the rear. The desk also faces the door so in case there is a scuffle you have to go over their desk to get your hands around their throat.

Remf is a slang term used in military contexts to refer to individuals who are stationed away from the frontlines or combat areas, typically in rear echelon positions. These individuals may be involved in support functions such as administration, logistics, or supply, and are sometimes perceived to be disconnected from the realities and risks faced by combat personnel. The term can have a negative connotation, implying that such individuals may lack the understanding and experience necessary to make informed decisions, particularly those that affect the safety and well-being of personnel in combat situations.
