normal vision in daylight; vision with sufficient illumination that the cones are active and hue is perceived

Photopic vision is the vision of the eye under well-lit conditions, which allows for color perception and sharp details. It primarily involves the retinas cone cells and is responsible for our daytime vision. Photopic vision operates at luminance levels where the cones become highly active and, in humans, it is generally considered to be active at luminance levels over about 3 candela per square meter.
