Mucocutaneous lymph node syndrome, more commonly known as Kawasaki disease, is a pediatric vasculitis of unknown origin that particularly affects medium-sized arteries, including the coronary arteries. It causes inflammation in the walls of some blood vessels in the body. Key symptoms often include fever, rash, swelling of the hands and feet, irritation and redness of the whites of the eyes, swollen lymph glands, and swollenness or redness of the mouth, lips and throat. It is primarily seen in children and can lead to serious complications if left untreated, but it is also treatable with the right medical care.
