A Niner Premiership is won when a team narrowly misses out on being part of the top 8 teams that go through to the finals of the competition. Despite it being a sort of [consolation prize], it is often used [tongue in cheek] to [ridicule] a sporting team that finds themselves at this part of the competition table, often continually.
