A kind of helmet worn in the 14th, 15th, and 16th centuries.

A Late [Medieval helmet]. It was light and fit very close around the head. The [armets] use was restricted to knights and men-at-arms who could afford full plate [armour].

[Merna]

A helmet of Italian origin introduced in the early 15th cent., consisting of a steel skull extending at the rear to form a narrow neck guard, wide hinged cheekpieces overlapping at the chin, and a small hinged pointed visor.
