Hoplites were heavily armed Greek [footman].
Hoplites had a spear that was about 8-15 feet long called a [doru]/dory
The [xiphos] was a short sword that was used as a secondary weapon when the doru/dory was broken or lost
Lastly, hoplites had a large concave shield called an [aspis]/hoplon. The inside was a thick wood and the outsides were made of bronze. Hoplites wore bronze breastplates along with greaves to protect the legs and a corinthian/chalcidian helmet. (P.S. they wore more types of armor but I dont want to list all of it) -
