The fruit of a cucubritaceous plant (Cicumis Melo), having apeculiar aromatic flavor, and cultivated in many varieties, theprincipal sorts being the cantaloupe, of oval form and yellowishflesh, and the smaller nutmeg melon with greenish flesh. See Illust.of Melon.
