Carriages in Carriage Driving. Competitors may use the same vehicle for all three events, but usually have a second one for the marathon events because this places more stress on the vehicle. There are two main types of carriage, vintage and modern, although there are carriages built on traditional lines with modern components such as metal spoked wheels and disc brakes.
