Any one numerous species of small brush-tongued parrots orlories, found mostly in Australia, New Guinea and the adjacentislands, with some forms in the East Indies. They are arboreal intheir habits and feed largely upon the honey of flowers. They belongto Trichoglossus, Loriculus, and several allied genera.

A small to medium sized parrot that is often brilliantly colored and feeds primarily on nectar, pollen, and some soft fruits. Lorikeets are highly aboreal creatures and are extremely playful and intelligent. They are also very messy pets due to their diet of liquids.
