A method of pronouncing Latin and Greek in which the vowelshave their more familiar Continental values, as in German andItalian, the consonants being pronounced mostly as in English. Thestricter form of this method of pronouncing Latin approaches theRoman, the modified form the English, pronunciation. The Continentalmethod of Greek pronunciation is often called Erasmian.
