See Hyena.-- Laughing jackass (Zoöl.), the great brown kingfisher (Dacelogigas), of Australia; -- called also giant kingfisher, and gogobera.-- Laughing owl (Zoöl.), a peculiar owl (Sceloglaux albifacies) ofNew Zealand, said to be on the verge of extinction.
