Used in former Spanish colonies especially [the Philippines]. Definition: A young lady attending an all female academic institution, usually run by a religious Order. The school is usually a [convent] [doubling] as a school. Until the 60s even the teaching and administrative staff were female. The student may be in the grades, high school or college.
