A leguminous climbing plant of the genus Mucuna, having crookedpods covered with sharp hairs, which stick to the fingers, causingintolerable itching. The spiculæ are sometimes used in medicine as amechanical vermifuge. [Written also couhage, cowage, and cowitch.]
