[Sexual Reassignment Surgery] or SRS is [the surgical] process (or processes) in which a transgender persons sexual characteristics (mainly the genitals) are altered to resemble the ones of their opposite sex (or the gender they identify with).
These surgical procedures can also be performed in intersex people.
This definition may be mistaken with Hormone Replacement Therapy , which is another type of procedure that [meny] transgender people go through.
