Tenement halls
-
Known for its lyric out of [Simon and Garfunkels]: [The sounds of silence], tenement halls are rooms or sets of separate residences in housing complexes and apartments. Specifically [rundown], overcrowded and low income apartments.

I must break the silence . This song saved my sanity after experiencing
A close uncounted of the 3rd kind .Its very meaningful and magical and is truthful in its statements. The silent light { UFO } that split the night was prophasized minutes before it slipped out of the Eastern night sky....... August 23rd 1999 it was wonderfully freaky and changed my life. -
The original is the best, DIsturbed version is excellent and Pentatonix interpretation is really good as well.

Call me old, I am...
Disturbed's version, while good, even great, is hardly better than the original. On its own without the video I feel it does stand up very well to the original but the accompanying video is about as meaningless to the lyrics as one might have imagined!
Talk about disconnected and going against the very words the song it's trying to communicate!
Perhaps if the walking guy were in New York on a wintry night, in the crappy part of town, it might have been better, for that is far closer to the imagery of the lyrics. People not caring about others, shouting down those who oppose their opinions, the loneliness one might feel in such an environment.
New York has always been famous as a town where people are known to be uncaring.
As S&G sing in another song, "still a man hears what he wants to hear and disregard the rest"
The Boxer-
it's a theme that runs through much of their lyrics. -
Disturbeds version simply made it clear, he sang so that we would listen and try to understand. Simons

Me too. Can't stop watching Disturbed's version on Youtube for last couple of weeks. Suddenly last night had a revelation and realized the amazing prophecy Paul Simon has written in 1964 for us today in 2021! Don't ever allow to be silenced by the "neon gods" of this world in these times!

I can't get enough of the version of Disturbed. Goosebumps everytime.
