A monoski is a type of sit ski using one ski with a mountain bike type suspension, most typically used independently by wheelchair users. The person uses a set of outriggers, which resemble short poles with small skis on them in place of typical baskets used by able-bodied skiers. The outriggers are used to initiate turns and for stability, however turning and balance is primarily accomplished through the single ski mounted to their monoski.
