(1952–2004), US actor. He starred in the Superman movie series 1978–87, as well as other movies such as Somewhere in Time (1980), Deathtrap (1982), and Rear Window (1998). A horseback riding accident in 1995 left him paralyzed from the neck down, after which he became a prominent advocate for public awareness of and research support for spinal cord injuries.
