A plant (Mesembryanthemum crystallinum), sprinkled withpellucid, watery vesicles, which glisten like ice. It is native alongthe Mediterranean, in the Canaries, and in South Africa. Its juice issaid to be demulcent and diuretic; its ashes are used in Spain inmaking glass.
