A captious individual who cannot resist the urge to correct a spelling and/or grammar mistake even in informal settings. After pointing out the linguistic shortcomings in others, a Grammar Nazi feels a strange sense of twisted and unconstructive intelligentsia delight.
In reality, they are making someone else feel bad for no reason and unintentionally implying that their superior grammar skills are all they have to show for a wasted liberal arts education.
While proper grammar usage is all well and good, a Grammar Nazi cavils even insignificant errors in English to somehow win an argument. Of course, rather than being genuinely persuasive in an argument, pointing out English errors is a weak attack only on the typists credibility and never has any bearing on the underlying premises and assertions therein.
In other words, this is simply a disguised [ad hominem] argument which intelligent and logical people disregard.
Still, one should strive to spell and use words properly, but arrogant and unsolicited advice is not a very persuasive way to teach English.

A person who criticizes someone elses grammar, spelling, and/or punctuation, usually in an online setting. While they are often seen as uptight assholes who really need to get a life, it should be noted that they point out simple flaws that often show a lack of intelligence on the part of the person being criticized.

an elitist who gets off on correcting others grammar and spelling because it makes him feel superior.
grammar nazis often misidentify grammar as the primary determinant of ones intelligence and the most important element of expression.
this belief stems from the grammar nazis insecurity, which leads him to learn the simplest thing in the whole fucking world to learn and impose it on others, earning self-gratification in the process. realizing how easy but effective it is, the nazi continues this ego masturbation until he can no longer separate the truth from the lie: grammars not that important, no one gives a shit, and no one likes you.
grammar nazis dont realize that in actuality, grammar is too ambiguous to have a rigid standard, and that though basic grammar is necessary, most grammar rules are not, and can restrict good expression.

One who uses refined vocabulary, correct grammar, constantly finds themselves correcting grammar and spelling (in forums, chatrooms, tumblr, YouTube, etc.)
First, you have your mild [GNs], theyre much [kinder] and respectively tell you about your grammar/spelling that is incorrect.
Then theres your experienced [GN], theyre much harder on you and constantly [browse] through pages to reply to people who have terrible grammar and spelling form.
Finally, theres the hardcore GN, only they have earned the right to sPELL liKe thisss and still be refined, respected, not a asshat GN like most internet GN are. They usually reply with a simple [correction] and move on.

Known to be quite the buzzkills, often [digressing] from the main point of discussion to fulfill their need to correct grammatical errors and [typos], mostly in a condescending tone. However, their rising population suggests that they are charming the pants off each other, their [loins] warmed by the idea of impeccable grammar, while pissing everyone else off.
