In 1995, Conan OBrien and Andy Richter were scheming ways to get past the TV censors on Conans late night talk show, and they settled on an all-purpose, suitable replacement for the infamous seven dirty swearwords that they couldnt say on TV: Crunk. The choice to use that word was definitely not random. Ice T just happened to be on the show that night, and he likely fed the word to them beforehand and certainly helped fuel its popularity during the telecast (That was seriously crunked up, right there.). But Ice never claimed to have come up with the word--he probably got it from Dirty South rappers, who had been using it for years as a euphemism for getting really crazy and fucked up on marijuana and alcohol (stoned and drunk. Chronic plus Drunk = Crunk). Or maybe crack and drunk. Or coke and drunk. Or maybe just being crazy and drunk. Whatever it is, it means getting really crazy and fucked up. And with Conans introduction of the word to northern suburban audiences, Crunk came into its own as the recognized sound of the new generation of Dirty South Rap, prompting white college fratboys everywhere to wander around going WHHHUT!! OKAAY!! YEEEAAHHH!! like annoying dipshits. and its all thanks to Lil Jon, and by Lil Jon I mean Dave Chappelle.

Everybody here is wrong, it is not getting crazy and drunk. Its smoking chronic (marijuana) and getting drunk.

        Chronic Drunk = CRUNK

              Some common uses:

To get Crunk is To have a good time.

Crunk is also thought to be derived from a combination or a portmanteau of the words crazy and drunk, or a combination of chronic and drunk, referring to the state of being both drunk from alcohol and high on marijuana, at the same time.

A style of music most commonly made by rap artists from the southern states, aka the Dirty South. Some crunk artists (or groups) are Lil Jon, Pitbull, Lil Scrappy, Trillville, and David Banner.

Something at a high level, as in volume.

A cliched and overused hiphop term that has been beat to death more than Bling-Bling and Shizzle. It means to get crazy and drunk. The term lost its cool factor like two years ago, but that doesnt stop wiggers and wanna be gangstas from using the the term as much as possible.

Anyone who was of age in Atlanta in the mid-90s when this term came around knows it does not necessarily mean drunk. All yall non-southerners just heard the word and got the whole meaning twisted. Crunk comes from crank it up! now is crunk! crank it up! Now its crunk! I was there so you dont know. And it just means to get all the way wild, shake your dreads: to be so unreasonably proud of where your from that you act like a maniac, youre just so excited and you dont know why. Like when youre in your car listening to Sammy Sam the hitman or Raheem the Dream. Or when youre at the club and you just go a lil loose and youre not even thanking about posturing for the opposite sex you just wanna unravel yourself and put the whole thang back together tomorrow.
