a girl ages about 9-14...too old for toys, but too young for boys.

Very easy to market to, will usually follow any fashion trend set for them, will most likely go through the phase of finding themselves as they grow up.

A word that is used by marketers to describe youths between the ages of 10-13. Although some believe that tweens are actually between the ages of 10-15. Despite the fact that tweens have always existed, marketers continue to lay claim to discovering them. The word discover is often misused, especially in a historical context. No one discovered the tweens. What marketers actually discovered was their purchasing power. Tweens will spend around 1.4 to 1.6 billion dollars in a year!

I am eleven years old, and tweens seem to be exactly what you think they are. Only a few of my classmates can write a coherent sentence, and even the ones who can are obsessed with [Justin Bieber] or [Avril Lavigne] or, in extreme cases, [Twilight].
While many people seem to think there is a single, strict recipe for stupid tweens, they are actually all stupid in their own special way. For example, the girl who calls herself [emo] when the only songs on her iPod are by [Taylor Swift], or the one who eats one piece of candy at recess and becomes ZOMG SO TTLY HYPER-RAND0M!!1! CHEEZ! Generally, most 10-12 year olds dont care what you call them, but youre better off calling the intelligent ones Pre-teens or Young adults, to distinguish them from the other ones.
Before you judge a tween, take a good look at her. Is she wearing an inappropriately short skirt? Is her bra stuffed? Is she squealing and dancing around with her friends? Or is she wearing appropriate clothes for her age, perhaps chatting with a friend or on the phone, but overall being calm and mature, like a normal human? Think before you judge.

A creature that is said to be between the ages of 9 and 12, who for some reason, have immense confidence in themselves.
Spend most on the time on the [internets] and flipping their hair.
Tends to be in love with stupid pop bands such as [The Jonas Brothers] and other Disney [crap].
Will defend said band with bad grammar, and meaningless insults.
          Ex:
omj. Jonazz bruders RAWK, OK??? ur just jelouse bcuz u wishes u wer dem, ok? u probbably r fats n uglys n poor. u wish u waz rich, u meanie. ur so mean. go to AYCH EE DOUBLE HOCKEYYSHTICKS. YEH.
Tends to shop at stores like Hollister and American Eagle, because apparently thats the style nowadays.
Dresses rather [whorish], and stuffs toilet paper in their training bras.
Have no individuality, and will do whatever the media says is rad.

The deference between a preteen and a tween:
Preteen: Someone between the ages of 10 and 13. Simple as that
Tween: Someone between the ages of 8 and 14/15, who in general:
            Regularly watches disney channel
Need to follow the lastest trends
            Almost exclusevely listens to pop
            Omg Tpye LIK DIS !!!
THIS IS THE REGULAR FOR MOST, THEY MAY FOLLOW ALL OR JUST SOME
Not all people in this age group are tweens, and it is extremely insulting to call someone(especially 14 or 15 year old) a tween or preteen if/when they are
            not.

Okay, to start, there is a huge difference between preteen and tween.
Preteen: Someone between the ages of 9 and 13
Tween: A little girl, who thinks that shes an teenager because shes wearing a training bra, and she continues to act like a child.
When their favorite Disney channel stars, like Miley, start taking pictures in bikinis {which is what every other teenage girl has done,} they become slutty. Then, they move on to a new role model. Their newest role model is Selena Gomez, but shell screw up eventually, and theyll find another role model Disney markets to them.
These girls want to shop at either:
                Abercrombie: Because its hip.
                or
Hot Topic: Because its totally emo punk
These girls strive to be cool, and will latch on to the latest trend.
They also have myspaces, with a bunch of fake pictures they stole from photobucket.
Basically a marketing audience for companies like Disney.

An age set overlapping [preteen]s, tween 8 and 14. A tween desperately wants to be a [teen], but isnt about to stop being a kid. May flirt one minute, but be embarrassed about it the next; usually prefers [titillation] [by proxy].
