Biosystematics is a branch of biological science that involves the study of the diversity of organisms and their comparative and evolutionary relationships, based on a combination of taxonomic classification, identification, nomenclature and phylogenetic analysis. It essentially deals with the classification and categorization of organisms, considering both the observable characteristics (phenotype) and genetic traits (genotype). Biosystematics also deals with the evolutionary relationships among these organisms.
