Genus Masdevallia is a group of flowering plants within the Orchidaceae family that consists of approximately 350 to 500 species endemic to the Andes mountains in South America. These plants are known for their variety of vibrant colors, unique triangular flowers and requirement for low-light and high-humidity growing conditions. They are named after the Spanish botanist Jose Masdeval.
