Hardstemmed bulrush, scientifically known as Schoenoplectus acutus, is a species of perennial herb plants from the family Cyperaceae. It typically grows in shallow water or mushy soil. This plant is characterized by its long, hard and round stems that can reach up to 10 feet in height and its round and brown spikelets. It is often found in marshes, swamps, and the shallow parts of lakes and ponds. As a wetland plant, it plays an important role in the ecosystem by providing habitats and food resources for various waterfowl and marsh-dwelling animals.
