The anterior facial vein, also known as the facial vein, is a major blood vessel located in the human facial structure. It drains blood from the facial region and transports it back to the heart. It originates at the angular vein located near the nose and travels downward through the face, ending at the internal jugular vein in the neck. This vein has no valves and communicates with the veins of the nasal, orbital and cranial cavities, making it clinically significant in the spreading of infections from the face to the cranial cavity.
