Family Raphidae is a group of extinct birds within the order Columbiformes, commonly known as pigeons and doves. The most famous member of this family is the Dodo bird (Raphus cucullatus) which is now extinct. Birds in the family Raphidae were flightless and found mainly on the islands of the Indian Ocean. They went extinct primarily due to human hunting and introduced species.
