Albert Gore Jr. is an American politician and environmentalist who served as the 45th vice president of the United States from 1993 to 2001 under President Bill Clinton. He is a member of the Democratic Party and was also a U.S. Representative and later a U.S. Senator from Tennessee. Gore was the Democratic Partys nominee for President in the 2000 election, which he narrowly lost to George W. Bush in a contentious election settled by the U.S. Supreme Court.
