It is another word for a blunt, which is a cigar that is hollowed out and filled with cannabis. It is in reference to the myth of Medusa, where anyone that saw Medusa's face would be turned to stone. The blunt itself will get the person smoking it high, or stoned.

In Greek Mythology she was a woman caught banging [Poseidon] of the altar of [Athena]. Athena got really pissed and made Medusa really ugly, with snakes for hair.
