Curling ball in Soccer. A player can make a ball swerve in the air - for example, around a defensive wall during a free kick just outside the opposing penalty area - by striking it with the inside or outside of the foot, as opposed to the instep. A ball struck with the outside of the right foot makes it curve to the right, while one struck with the inside of the right foot makes it curve to the left.
