Procedure in Track Events - Relay Events. Each team member runs one leg of the race. They carry the baton with them as they run and can only hand it over to their team member once they reach the changeover zone. Once they have handed over the baton, competitors should remain in their lanes until the course is clear to avoid impeding other competitors.
