Word used for [refrigerator] when it was first avilable. Used frequently just as its introduction in the [1930s], when more than 2 million Americans owned refrigerators. [Preceding] those days wooden ice boxes were used with block ice.

[Merna]

A chilled box or cupboard for keeping something cold, especially food.

[Greta]

[Icebox] is an adjective used to describe something especially chill, dank, or cool. A group of guys chilling, [having a great time], would characterize their adventures and exploits as [icebox]. If things take a turn [for the worse], then that situation is no longer icebox and has become freezerburnt.
