Barbell in Weightlifting. The apparatus used by a competitor that is lifted into the air with both hands. It is made of a steel rod with evenly distributed metal discs or rubber weights attached to both ends by collars. Each end of the bar has a revolving sleeve so that the bar can be turned during a lift.
