Any one of a series of hydroxyl derivatives of naphthalene,analogous to phenol. In general they are crystalline substances witha phenol (carbolic) odor. Naphthol blue, Naphthol orange, Naphtholyellow (Chem.), brilliant dyestuffs produced from certain complexnitrogenous derivatives of naphthol or naphthoquinone.
